Pre-race routine:

ate an english muffin and granola bar and drove down to registration early.
Event warmup:

using race as part of ironamn training so i ran 2 mile warmup and had 2 gu's (one i planned on and the rest of k's when she couldn't stomach it)

Comments:

my goal was 20 minutes and i beat that so i am happy. i would have liked to start more towards the fron to see how long i could have hung with the winners, but i started in the middle and by the time i got some clear rode they were all gone and i could only hold my pace. the winner was flat out flying with 5:00 miles even. at least i can take pride in the thought that he didn't go run 9 miles when he was done though.
Post race
Warm down:

finfished off long run and ended up doing ~14 total.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

starting too far back and just not being fast enough. happy with how i did though.

Event comments:

for a simple 5k this is a great race. very organized. nice, scenic, well marked course. results posted quickly. food and water right after. i recommend it to anyone in the area.

normal running hr is 151, but i couldn't keep it down. as soon as the race started it shot up to 182 and stayeed high for a 178 average for the race.
Course: up and down the main ave. along the beach with a loop on each end.
