Pre-race routine:

Not much. I slept very poorly last night, so just had some toast and pb and headed out ... I knew I'd have some time to wait before my swim start, so had some yogourt and a banana at the race site.

4 to a lane, was seeded in a good group we all went the same speed no passing. I felt good about the swim - felt smooth, strong, and fluid. Didn't try super hard or push myself at all, just went at a nice easy pace.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I'm happy with my performance. Maybe try a little harder, but this race was for fun not results.

It was FREAKING cold! Come out of the pool into the wind gusts, and man oh man I just about froze!

50-KM per hour wind gusts. I have never ridden in wind like that before - I had to lean quite a bit to just stay on my bike!
Great ride though - I passed quite a few people and felt really strong and in control. Saw Dee out there fighting the wind.
What would you do differently?:

FIND MY BIKE SHOES! I rode with my clip-in pedals and my running shoes - wasn't ideal, but I made it work! Probably could have gone a lot faster if I either had my bike shoes or switched to flat pedals.

I am so not a runner. And it was still super windy and I was quite cold! I walked a bit of the course, maybe 40% of it - not sure if it was the weather/cold but my R calf started cramping and got super tight - stopped to stretch it out a few times but it still screamed at me ... so I took it easy. But I saw Dee out there again!
What would you do differently?:

Run more? I really suck at this part.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not having my bike shoes, the wind was horrible, and I suck at running. And I had too many chocolate martinis last night - didn't sleep well and felt fuzzy and slightly hungover this morning. Bad decision, there.
