Subject: 60 degree for HIM bike...what to wear?

For my AM rides I'm usually in a light Zephrr PI jacket with long sleeve shirt at 60 degrees.  Not looking forward to freezing for 3 hours in just my tri jersey

I was thinking of throwing a long sleeve running jersey on but I don't think it will help much with the wind blowing through it.  Maybe a heavier riding jacket, should be easy on/off with a full zip.

Any suggestions??

Why not wear the PI  jacket you normally wear riding in similar weather?

Eventhough I have yet to do a HIM (later this year), if I went for a 56 mile ride in 60 degree weather I would just wear my tri outfit...ori would sweat to death

For ME i would just wear my normal tri outfit at 60 degrees. I would also wear it at 50 degrees though. However, do whatever is most comfortable with you. 56 miles is a long way to be uncomfortable and second guessing yourself

At about that temperature (warmed up for the run) I wore a cheap Champion shell. Worked perfectly and kept the (albeit weak) sun off my arms, too. The fact that it was dry-tech material kept me cool.

It's not like I was going to break any records, so I could have taken it off and tied it around my waist. Or balled it up and put it in my tri top pocket.

60 is hot here especially in the spring after winter. Since your not from Florida and from the NE I would say the same thing as most others, just were your tri suit.

I have been wearing underarmour heat gear shirts (the ones that cool you down) for my tops, the first race of the year I was going to wear a black short sleve, but as the race got closer I started to get hot, switched to grey, and thats what I have been using ever since. 60 is plenty warm, even coming out of the water.

That's perfect racing weather. Just a tri suit. I did a duathlon back in the fall on a 45 degree day in just my tri uni. You'll be fine once you get going.

I would ride that in a regular tri suit but I'm a polar bear who has been known to get uncomfortably warm running in 15F weather.  If you're really worried about a chill, how about sleeves?  Easy to put on and you can roll them down once you warm up.

Tri outfit + arm warmers maybe.  Possibly light full finger gloves

I would do tri suit and arm warmers. 60 is gloriously perfect weather! I did a half in the fall that was 40 degrees and there were tons of guys in tri suits. I did a UA long sleeve shirt over my tri suit and took it off halfway through once we hit 60 late morning.
