I pledged (in the other thread for the overall swim challenge) to do all my meterage as assigned by my coach.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to give anyone that number until the end of the month...because I don't know how much coach is gonna assign!  Don't worry, I won't cheat.  Y'all can always check with my coach if you won't take me at my word....but I'm honest...

So...my pledge is to complete all my assigned meterage!

No dice, Jen. We need to come up with another way. Imagine if everyone pledged the same?

Actually, it's harder than pledging an amount early and having all month to figure out how to get it done.  It leaves me less ability to get ahead early.  I would need to be on my game all month.  The only other alternative is to take the cheater's way out and only pledge 10k which I could do in my sleep then it isn't very much of a challenge, now is it?

The point is to challenge ourselves, right?  To challenge myself, I want to do all the meterage my coach assigns.  But he sends the workouts weekly so I don't know how much it will be!  I can update it every week at the beginning of the week so you guys will always know about where I stand.  You just won't know my total pledge in meters until the beginning of the last week.  Then again...neither will I!

I'm here :-)  Thanks for having this transplanted Texan on your team.....give me a couple of days, and I'll get you my total.  I'm thinking right around 10,000 yards - which would be a challenge for me in December...but don't finalize that yet.

Glad to have you on the team Carrie, you certainly have picked a winning team!

I'm going to record everyone's goals as meters, but everyone feel free to give them as yards if you want.

courtney_leone - 2005-11-18 7:08 AMI'm going to shoot for 12,600. Question: if we go over, does it not count? I think I remember Renee saying if we went over, our total would be thrown out or something.

I think she meant that any extra yards over our goal will be thrown out :-)  So there is no harm in going over - it just won't count as extra for the team.

someone correct me if I am wrong.

Talked to my coach...he said to put down 40,000 meters....

Hopefully that means he'll actually assign me 40,000 meters of workouts....

Ok...I'm doing one of the 'winter maintenance' programs on this site, and it has me swimming around 8600 meters in December - which seems low to me - but I also have to remember that I 'may' be going to Hawaii over the week of Christmas, and don't know how much swim training I'll get in over there - but this IS a challenge - so I'm going to say I'll do 10,000 meters in December.  (seems kind of wimpy considering the 40,000 meter goal!!)  but I want to be realistic, and considering I did 5300 yards in October, and have only done 5900 so far in November, 10,000 seems like a reasonable, yet challenging goal.   (Have I convinced anyone but myself???)  I hate thinking outloud LOL

Ok....now to schedule when I'm going to pool - bring the challenge ON!!!

WARNING!  <Smack Talk>

Jen,  with all respect to the Yee Haw's...I can see the fear in your eyes.  Let's just say the Blizzards have friends in the Lonely Star state and they happen to catch a photo of your reaction after learning of the ever-so-powerful Blizzard team, which will be trouncing on the Yee Haws.

Ok. Put me down for 20K yards. This is probably realistic with a 9 month old running the house now!

I am also an exiled Texan. Can I join the team?

Ok, so considering the CSU (Colorado State University) rec center pool will be closed (AGAIN) for half of the month, and that will be my monster marathon training month, I'm only going to put myself down for 8000 yds. I think that is reasonable, for me. Don't want to take away from my running, or from Christmas. And I know I'll be working like crazy that month. So yea. 8000 it is.

Do you feel that chill in the air?  I think they're predicting a Blizzard.

Good luck!
