At my peak I was doing an IM distance and 2 1/2 IM distance swims per week in the 2 months leading up to IMLP. For me that's less than 3 hours. I was cool with that, I had no problems.
ChuckyFinster - 2005-12-14 12:30 PM This month I'm doing 14,500 yards total over 3 workouts (M,W,F) per Mike Ricci. It is taking me almost 6 hours total.
Ummm..yea...I didn't really train for that event. In the spring I swam several times a week, maybe an hour at a time, but I basically stopped in late summer. LOL...I can't believe I did that and felt great in the race.
I don't remember any of my swims being more than about an hour. I think a few went 1:15. The distance varied depending on what workout I was doing (straight swim, endurance sets, etc.).

Last year I did about 1.5 to 2 hours a week tops swimming. Finished IMC swim in 1:05. That included me swimmer blocker for my wife and friend to the first bouy. Plenty fast for me, I'm planning on doing a bit more training this coming year and trying to break 1:00 on the swim this year.
