Subject: RE: Pre-race prep If you are doing a sprint, I'd probably back off (light to no work) beginning Wed or Thurs. Friday, get in about 15 min of each exercise, just to keep the feel of it. No workout on Saturday. Eat good, healthy meals always, but especially the day before. Get plenty of carbs, but don't pig out or anything. Eat natural foods, not energy bars or junk like that. Morning of the race, eat what you normally eat before a work out. If you use energy bars while you train, have one on the bike leg if you need it. Drink plenty of water all week long. Race day, be sure to take care of your bathroom business before the race starts - you don't want that discomfort anytime, especially on the bike. Really make an effort in this regard - I know, this is some strange advice, but from the race I did a couple of weeks ago, the folks who took care of business before the race had a better race than those who didn't. I hope that's not too far out of bounds for our site discussion guidelines. |
