Courtney

There's a size limit of 50k for avatars. Have you checked the size of the graphic?

What was the problem?

I'm encountering the same thing. I have a pic (46k according to Windows) that magically turns into my old avatar. I've even deleted my old avatar, but yet it re-appears.

Also, the image works in the "Upload personal photo:" area.

I could email you, but putting the solution here may help someone else later.

It could be the image dimensions. Avatars have a limit of (I believe) 300 pixels high x 200 pixels wide.

It could be the image dimensions. Avatars have a limit of (I believe) 300 pixels high x 200 pixels wide.

It was 400x300, but I've resized it to below 300x200. Also, I can't make my "personal photo" stick either. Here is what I'm doing:

I have two files (attached here): NewAvatar.jpg & OldAvatar.jpg and this is my sequence:

For the "Upload profile image:"
1) Delete OldAvatar.jpg
2) Screen reloads and I have no pic
3) Download NewAvatar.jpg
4) Hit the Go button
5) The screen will refresh and I see OldAvatar.jpg

Also, I've played around with the "Upload personal photo:" which was currently empty and it has the same behavior:
1) Add NewAvatar.jpg in "Upload personal photo:"
2) Hit the go button
3) Screen reloads and I see NewAvatar.jpg
4) Delete NewAvatar.jpg
5) Screen reloads and I see no pic
6) Add OldAvatar.jpg
7) Hit the Go button
8) Screen reloads and I see NewAvatar.jpg

I've also tried using the "submit" button at various times, but it doesn't seem to help.

I experienced this same problem, then I hit the refresh button on my Internet Explorer. After the refresh everything was perfect. This only worked after I got the picture to the correct dimensions.

Chris I can see the new avatar. Have you tried Ctrl+F5? This will clear out your browsers cache and force it to reload everything from the server.

That must have been it. I did "reload" (and "cntrl reload") several times, but did not try the "Ctrl F5". Is that universal? I'm running Mozilla/Netscape and was suprised it worked.
