What do you lube your chain with? I am currently using White Lightning wax based but I find it a bit noisy. I installed a new SRAM chain today and I am not sure what is on it but it is smooth and quiet. Probably more sticky and will pickup more particles though.

I used to go with Finish Line, but switched over to ProLink last year.  The lube lasts longer between applications and doesn't collect nearly as much gunk.

Nothing will touch the factory lube.  My best recommendation would be to buy a wet and dry chain lube for comparison to the wax based you have been using.  It really depends on the road conditions and the weather you ride in (salt, dust, damp etc).  All of them will work, some are better suited for certain conditions.  What works for someone in their particular set of conditions may or may not work for you.

This is an excellent place to start;

The best chain lube is... wait for it...

the one that you actually use.

Because no name-brand lube is going to do much for you sitting on the shelf!

White Lightning. I use both Clean Ride and Epic ride, conditions dependent. (I've never noticed it being "noisy"...?)

Go ask the mechanic at your local shop. My shop recommend prolink gold. I have no idea if it is the best but trust thier recommendations.

Well, after all the recommendations for prolink I did a good bit of research on it and everyone that uses the stuff loves it. I think I will switch to it and see if it is as good as they say.

I use 10W30 motor oil right now. I bought a quart of Valvoline on sale and use it all the time. I have great looking chains.

That being said I clean my race bike after pretty much every ride, and I clean my commuter bikes once a week. I use whatever is cheapest. A clean bike (and drive train) is a happy one. If you can rub your hand over the chain after it is cleaned and oiled and not get anything on your fingers, then bingo, good job!

I am also all about keeping it clean. I clean and wax my frame after every ride and clean/lube my chain every 5 rides unless it got wet or I rode through a lot of dust. My best guess is that when you clean/lube your chain so often you could probably use almost any lube and it will be fine. My blessing and curse of my own personality is that when I use something, I want to use the best. In this case, I figure if I am going to spend my time cleaning and lubeing my chain I want the best possible result, not something that will work just fine..... I know, I know, this is the point when you say, "that guy is a few bricks shot of a house!". But, I have noticed some big changes in my drivetrain with just a different lube.

Rock n' Roll Gold and Absolute Dry are my favorite.  They stay pretty clean and keep everything silent.

Another vote for Rock N Roll (red - since it never rains anymore in TX).  It was recommended by LBS and they use it on their personal bikes.

I have been pleased with Boeshield for the bike, boat and many other applications.
