Need Tech help with a Mac and Time Capsule

Champion  8766       Evergreen, Colorado |  Subject: Need Tech help with a Mac and Time CapsuleSo, for some reason I cannot figure out, my Time Capsule's wireless network has no internet connection if it is connected directly to the cable modem. If I connect the cable modem to a Belkin wireless router and then use one of the outputs of that router and connect to the Time Capsule I have lovely internet. Does anyone know why the Time Capsule isn't working directly connected to the modem? I'll probably leave it connected through the router anyway since I have to hook up two of them, but I still feel like it should work when directly connected. What am I missing? |

The device "closest" to the internet should be powered on first... and then on down the line. In your example:
Cable Modem -> Belkin -> Time Capsule.
Or, if trying to remove the hub: Cable Modem -> Time Capsule.
Also, make sure that the Time Capsule is setup to use DHCP in order to get its IP address. That way it will ask the Cable Modem for an IP address. (instead of using a default) |

Pro 4909 Hailey, ID | Subject: RE: Need Tech help with a Mac and Time Capsule That should do it most likely. A cable modem 'pairs' with a device when it first boots up. It will only work with that device until you reboot the modem and let it pair to a new one (your time capsule). Good luck! |
