My best guess is that 'speed intensity' is essentially an all-out sprint. That's based solely on the fact that it's given for 25s on :20 rest (basically 1:1, work:rest ratio). VO2max is going to be above threshold and, depending how good of a swimmer you are, probably about the max pace you could 'sprint' 200-400m when rested. If you have a threshold pace, I'd guess maybe T-(5-10sec) or so. Even on :45 rest, doing 8 of them is going to hurt. If your last is with a few seconds of your first, and it feels like you couldn't do a 9th, then you probably have the pacing about right. |
