Subject: Any numismatists out there?
I have my fathers coin collection and just not sure how to handle finding a value. It is a hodge podge of sets and individual coins. Some in mint condition, some in very worn condition. I am leery about taking the set to a collector to get a value.

Any suggestions on how to handle?

have you tried numismedia, com or pcgs.com to start some of your initial research?  From there I'd take the "better" items to a reputable local coin shop and compare their estimates to see who is being fair and who isn't.

Another option is to go the auction house route.  They aren't buying your stuff so they have no real incentive to low-ball you.  If you decide to sell, they get paid a percentage of the final bid price so its actually in their best interest to get the most money for your items.

Good luck!
