Subject: RE: Guelph 2Don't forget to arrive at the venue early, especially for your first race. Parking, packet pick up, marking, lines for the porta-john, setting up transition, and all the necessities take longer than you expect. Getting there early relieves a good deal of the stress and allows you to take a good look around transition to see where you enter/exit and make sure you have your bearings, plus get in a bit of a warmup. Couldn't agree more that the run up from the swim is something of a chore. Don't redline it there as the cost later could be considerable.Watch for rocks in the grass, this isn't a great place to stub a toe. Watch out for bike traffic at the turnaround on the bike, things get bunched up and dicey in a hurry if you're in the middle of a lot of bodies. Your first race will likely be the biggest learning opportunity of your triathlon career - keep that in mind and have an absolute blast. Best of luck!!!! Guelph is a great venue. |
