Swim
Comments: Felt very relaxed in this swim. Only went off course by a few feet once. Passed quite a few fellows from the wave before me. What would you do differently?: swim wider to take better advantage of the current in the Detroit River. I noticed lots of swimmers further off of the buoy line, but I've worked hard at swimming on course. Our resident pro mentioned he swam out further to hit the current. Next year...:) Transition 1
Comments: lost my goggles and cap again. I guess I shouldn't leave them in my sleeve anymore. Jo got my goggles for me so I didn't have to stop! :) What would you do differently?: hang on to the goggles and cap I guess Bike
Comments: I didn't have a specific race plan for today other than work my way into each segment and finish strong. New transition area, and weird ramp to get into it. Lots of scrubbing speed in a new turn that was pretty tight and as always, a congested course once the sprinters get going. This course is flat and fast and the wind was kind this year...I could have pushed more, but felt good and was pleased with the watts for the effort. What would you do differently?: Not tons...I had a good ride and it didn't kill me. Be a little more aggressive coming into transition I guess, but I did not want to fall again! Transition 2
Comments: some jerk racked his bike directly over my run gear. And there was only 1 other bike on our rack. What a weenie! I took a few extra seconds getting my gear and my bike racked because of my neighbor, but I ran out with my belt and visor, like always What would you do differently?: not rack next to a weenie! Run
Comments: Crapper run. Had to use my inhaler, and walked through aid stations. :( Hot and humid. Lungs just didn't want to cooperate. I did pick it up a bit at the end. Wish I would have know the run course was short, cause I would have picked it up sooner. What would you do differently?: Use inhaler pre race, not during. Keep pushing. Kinda quit on the run this time about mid run for a bit. Post race
Warm down: just walked and chatted and cheered the rest of my teammates. It's the social event of the season and there were lots of folks to visit. I met Jack for the first time, saw lots of hounds and Team Motiv8 kids, saw the tri for lifers who used to be my teammates. Lots of fun post race. It was our teams invasion race so a few tour and mtb'rs were there too. Very nice. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad attitude, the fall yesterday, sticky lungs. Event comments: Love doing this race since it's the social event of the season. Got my head out of my fanny after starting the swim, and had a good race overall. New bike pr thanks to mother natures kind winds today. Run stunk, but it will come. Got a good enough ranking to race next year at Best of the US. Going to do a road trip with my teammate and worlds "sister" to IN next June. That should be FUN! :) Last updated: 2012-02-21 12:00 AM
