Wasaga on Sat and Mukoka 70.3 on Sun.

My favorite two races in ON on the same weekend. I'm doing Wasaga (OLY) this time for I haven't raced there since 2009. I did Muskoka in 2010 and 11.

Who else is doing Wasaga? Has anyone received a parking pass for Sat? I haven't....

Good luck to the ones racing either on Sat or on Sun.

Wasaga will be my first tri ever at age 58 I am doing the sprint , the weather forcast sounds awefull, rain 18 degrees and a 15k wind from the north, parking info is suposed to come in an e-mail today sometime.

Starting to get a little anxious and excited at the same time, pick up the rental van tomorrow morning and will be heading up that way tomorrow, staying at my sister inlaws cottage in victoria harbour for the weekend , they did just put in a nice new large Hot tub though so after race lounging should be awesome.

Yes, it looks like it's going to be windy. I hope they don't move the swim to the river even if Lake Huron it's a little rough. In any case, don't worry about the weather, it's better to race with some rain and 18C than on a sunny and hot day. Enjoy your first tri and the after race on the hot tub.

My post wasn't clear. I'll do Wasaga, not Muskoka. I thought about doing both but it would be too much for my bank acc after a busy season that included  Mont-Tremblant (half and full).

I got the emails too. I'm # 973. Good luck.

We are starting to get emails asking what we will do in case of inclement weather. Please DO NOT email or call about the weather. That question cannot be answered until race day and we know exactly what weather conditions we are dealing with. In the case of poor weather we do everything we can to give you a race. We never want to cancel a race. The possibilities for this race: In case of severe waves move the swim to the river, in case of severe conditions in the river and bay we would then turn all races into duathlons. We will not know exactly what options we have until the weather is with us. In either or any case we have prepared several contingency plans. You can also read the FAQ sectionhttp://www.msctriathlon.com/ms/about/faq.cfm

On Saturday in Bracebridge this year we changed the race configuration and gave athletes several options. Athlete reaction was very very positive. In 11 years we have only cancelled a race once. That was a Sprint in Parry Sound and there was severe lighting, thunder and torrential rain. In that case we were actually able to move the race to the next day, within the Half Iron.

When I was on the UW swim team we had to do a triathlon at the start of the season, and without fail it was the windiest, coldest, rainiest day each fall when we ran it.  This will be like that, except warmer.  Really looking forward to it.

John, is there a possibility of having to run without disc wheels?  I don't need a call right now, I just need to know if I should be ready to take my wheelcover off pre-race.  I remember GL2 not permitting discs a couple years ago and some people got caught out.

I remember Guelph Lake 2 a couple of years back canceling the swim partly because the life guards were getting blown all over the lake. I remember being disappointed because I thought the swim back (with the waves) would have been like riding with a really wicked tailwind.Having said that the race turned out to be quite a memorable experience mainly because of the weather. So if your racing Wasaga today be safe and embrace the rain. If nothing else it will be a memorable chapter in your triathlon yearbook.

At the end we didn't swim, and I think it was the right thing to do. Big waves in the first 300 m that made the buoys and the zodiac bounce in the water. We had lots of rain but not as much wind as expected for this type of front. It was a different race. The format for the OLY turned into a 5K run/30k ride/5K run and the stretches of roads we rode were in very good shape, most of them newly paved. Flat and fast course. I had a good race since I don't mind running / riding in the rain and I wish I could have stayed longer after the race to collect my second place age group medal, but I had no idea about that until I checked the results at home.

I hope you all had a good race today.

Looking forward to race my first Lakeside next weekend.

Same Here great race considering the conditions YECH

for my first tri ever the conditions were sure a bit of a bummer, I was a bit disapointed that the swim was cancelled but it sure was the right call to make so guess I will have to wait till next year to swim and become an official tri-athlete. OH WELL

Anyway great race for me 4th in AG 4/8 so right in the middle finished in 1:27:21, and my Bike was great for me, my fastest ride ever including all my practice rides at 40:52 & 29.5 KPH considering the  conditions a great ride for me.
