Savanah State scheduled Oklahoma St and Florida State for their season openers. It will bring them about $800,000 and fund their entire athletic program. But last week, they lost to OSU 84-0.

Who ya got? I'm taking the points!

I have never been in favor of paying college athletes, but if colleges like Savannah State are going to auction off the opportunity for superior athletes at major schools to pummel their players, shouldn't the players reap some reward? They are there to play football, not do whatever it is these games are.

Savannah State went 1-11 in the FCS sub-sub bowl division (or whatever they call Div 2 now) last year. Obviously, they don't have the best athletes on the team. This is a pure money grab at the expense of those kids' health and dignity.

Savannah St lost 84-0 last week. It may hit triple figures this week.

Agree with the post above about how these poor guys are just roadkill for the school's money grab. Hope there are no serious injuries.

This is just embarrassing. It's a step above Bum Fights, just barely. Florida St. Is paying for the privilege of pummeling someone. The only thing worse is Nick Saban scolding Alabama fans for not selling out a game against western Kentucky. I wouldn't pay for a ticket, parking, and concessions for a game that is really even a game.

I took the points, despite seeing the 1st half score. FSU may take their foot off the gas. There may be an injury. They could play the cheerleaders and waterboys. SS might score.

That said, this game never, ever should have been played.

It makes me smile that OK St. beat Savannah St. 84-0 last week then loses to a middle of the PAC-12 Arizona team 39-58.

How does the pay out work since the game was called early. FSU didn't cover the spread, but they didn't play a full game either? Are all bets a push?

Apparently Vegas paid back the money.

Speaking as a grad of a FCS school that gets thumped annually by some powerhouse (The Citadel), I have to say these are the games the alumni and the players look forward to the most. It's a chance to see big time football and the team you love on the same field. For the players, it's like a golfer getting to play at Augusta National with Tiger Woods.

One of my buddies came back from the FSU game and said he's never been knocked down so hard and then picked up so gently.

We get thumped, take $400k, and go away with a grin. It's sort of like letting lottery triathletes race at Kona.

You have to play at least 55 minutes for it to be considered a game in Vegas and most betting sites. All bets are a push.
