Swim
Comments: I absolutely loved this swim! The water felt perfect and I really prefer the freedom of swimming without a wetsuit. I maintained a disciplined stroke and managed to not get caught up in any major contact with other swimmers and I sighted the buoys really well. It was just fun! What would you do differently?: I think I could have pushed it harder but I wanted to do this race for fun and not overdo it. My training was pretty minimal compared to past tri's. You know, if my goal was to have fun, then I achieved it and I wouldn't change a thing :-) Transition 1
Comments: It's a long run out of the water and I ranked 264 overall on T1 so I guess I was moving pretty fast. I took extra time to get my socks because I needed them for the run and wanted to take advantage of the comfort on the bike. Because there was a run through gravel to exit I put my shoes on instead of going ahead and attaching them to the bike. What would you do differently?: I forgot to pack a towel to wipe my feet off. There's a lot of wet grass stuck to your feet after the run and my OCD really hated just sticking the socks on over the grass. Bike
Comments: There were some good bikers in my age group! I did okay, but would have gone faster with a better training regimen. As for my goal of having fun I met that one again! Austin has some great sites and I enjoyed the view and the course. Transition 2
Comments: It was a "smooth" transition. I took care of business but I had the entire length of the transition area to cover to get to the run exit. Run
Comments: So, my lack of training due to foot injuries showed up, plus I was way overheated which led to alternating walking and running at a relatively slow pace compared to past tri's. What would you do differently?: Practice running Post race
Warm down: The icy towel at the end was needed because I was way overheated. I walked around, got some food (average) and listened to some music (the band was okay) What limited your ability to perform faster: Same old story... need to train more Event comments: Thinking about TriRock? I'm sure the music is not worth it, but the venue in Austin is excellent. I really loved that swim! This is an expensive race and I think it was probably a one time thing for me... unless I keep thinking about the great swim! Oh.. and there's the Oly I could try. Last updated: 2012-09-02 12:00 AM

This was my first out of town race... at least the first one where I spent the night in a hotel. I got going early and arrive to see the Olympic Distance contestants. The sunrise was beautiful and I took in all the sights. The warm up band was pretty good. The weather was gorgeous. I loved it. Hydrated and hit the port a let just to use one before they got gross.
I found a nice spot to sit my lazy butt down on the green carpet and rested. There wasn't an official warm-up spot to swim and I'm so not in running shape right now so that wasn't really an option. I checked my bike over, stretched, relaxed. Just before start I did some warm up exercises like jumping jacks and push ups. My blood was flowing.
