Subject: Remembrance Sunday

11th November is Remembrance Day in the UK where we take some time to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.  I was out on my Sunday ride today after going to the service, cycling through the green fields of England thinking how lucky I am to have my freedom.

Men and women of many nationalities gave their lives and continue to stand in the way of those who would deny us our privileges, among them many Americans.  I don't post on any other US boards so will give my thanks to those US soldiers here.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them."

This is a wonderful tribute to those who gave their lives ... and a reminder for us to remember their sacrifice.  Lest we forget.

Yeah, I had a 2 minutes of silence today at home to remember everyone who gave their lives for our freedom.  It makes me think that Remembrance Day on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 2018 is going to be a very special day - 100 years since the end of the Great War!

Here's John McCrae's famous poem - In Flanders Fields, which I always read on Remembrance Day...... lest we forget:

I took my grandchildren out to Nellis Air Force Base today for Aviation Nation, the giant air show featuring the Thunderbirds.

Flags are flying freely from nearly every home in our community.  Living in a 55 plus age restiricted community, with the average age around 78 most house holds have at least one veteran connected and grew up in a very different generation from today's youngens.

American pride is very strong here, and veterans are well received and remembered.

Thank you all
