Subject: RE: Long LONG overdue!!!powerman - 2012-12-16 9:37 AM ^^^You could consider progressive rock not rock... but since Bee Gees and Madona are in, I guess that does not really matter anymore. So just help me out, I can't tell if you are serious. Did you foget to use the sarc font or smilies? Not sure how you can consider anything with rock as part of its name "not rock." I really think some have come to define the genre too closely. To your question, serious. In the scheme of things, Rush is at best a third-tier band, dozens are more worthy of HoF status, many are already in. Thus they Hall is getting down to the third (or lower) tier of inductees. The two examples you've thrown out there, while I'm not a huge fan of either, I would place ahead of Rush in the rock hierarchy. Just using the metric you used above (record sales), both are significantly ahead of Rush, at 64.5million sold for Madonna and 220Million for the Brothers Gibb. I don't expect Rush fanboys to agree, but it is the reality. |
