I have two different style of coat racks done with late 1800's / early 1900's door knobs.  One is 4 wire braided in a straight line with holes drilled and counter sunk for the screw heads at 16" on center, but each door knob was wire brushed clean and then the entire thing was clear coated.  The other is a similar braided wire, but this time bent in a v shape.  I also left the knobs as they were when I removed them from the old doors.  I have not clear coated this one yet, but I will when I have enough time to heat a portion of my garage enough to paint.  The first one has 6 coats of clear.

I know some of you have already purchased things from me and would like your input.  I am out of this style of door knob, but I have been trying to get more from some people doing demos.  The problem is most people throw them in the scrap or trash.

Do you like the straight or the "V" ?

Do you like the cleaner or patina?

I like both straight and V, but prefer the V.  The patina has to stay - that really makes it unique.  Otherwise, just use new knobs.

Make both. Purchase decisions increase when there are choices.

I will attempt to clear coat the "V" style this coming weekend and see what everyone still thinks.  I am afraid that if I don't clear the door knobs, there will be some type of staining that a buyer would complain about.  Am I over thinking this too much.

New door knobs that are round like this are much more expensive than what I can usually find in old junk stores or antique stores.  I will probably sell these for $45.00 plus shipping just because of the cost in the door knobs themselves.
