Last year I put on my first race and it went off great.  I really enjoyed doing it and we did it as a fund raiser for TNT.

I'd like to be able to do it again but the medal company left a salty taste in my mouth.  The product came out 'ok'.  Not great, not bad...just average.  But I thought for the price it wasn't a good trade.

Also it bothered me how much it cost for the medals when the company I bought them from never removed the invoice from the box that they got from the manufacturer and they were marked up 100%.  I get making a living and all...but 100%?!

What companies do you guys use, RD's? I went with a Die Cast Zinc soft enamel. 2"; 3.5mm thick.

If you have the invoice from the wholesaler, can you go to them directly next time?

There is very little information about the manufacturer.  Pretty much it's just an address in China.

Personally, I think that looks like a pretty awesome finisher medal!

Have you tried the trophy stores in your area (or did this come from them?)? They often times will do medals as well. Plus, you have the extra advantage of using someone local, who has some sympathy with your cause (typically, because, well, cancer sucks!). They may cut you a deal or donate something to the cause.

I forget who I used for my swimmers- we did some "fun races" and skill tests as a fundraiser day, but they were pretty generic. I think I got them from one of the millions of swim gear catalogs I've got.

I'd check out alibaba.com

I had used an online place. However, in my race this past year I completely got the numbers wrong. (I still don't understand how counting was so difficult...) So I went online to reorder and the place was shut down...for like a week...which ended up being like 2 weeks. Finally I found a place that was local that was able to get them to me quick. I agree with approaching local stores. If you have a charity associated - which I believe you do - they may be willing to give you a better deal.

Good luck!
