Subject: St. Practice Day

Do any other bars have St. Practice day on the 17th of January and February? 

My acoustic band is playing St. Practice Day this Sunday for a small town bar that has done this for a few years that I remember and it is a well attended gathering.  It is a very green town and bar, if you know what I mean.  They basically shut down the street in front of the bar on March 17.  But, you have to practice to get ready for the real thing.

What an absolutely fantastic idea.  I will say that I'm a decade or so removed from my real bar hopping days, but I have never heard of such a thing.

I am not a bar scene person, but have played music for  30+ years.  The hard rock electric band just does a few shows for benefits or fundraisers if we can all get together on the date of the fundraiser.  Currently just playing the double bass in a three piece acoustic group playing covers and originals.  Just playing to have fun to attempt to keep the stress out of life.

The bar we are playing at is just off of a bike trail that has "Taco Tuesday" bicycle rides and since it is an Irish bar, we have Irish Nachos.  Instead of chips at the bottom of the lettuce, meat, jalapeno, onion, tomato, salsa, etc.... is deep fat fried potatos. 

The people that run the bar are great to work with and we help them try and raise money to keep improving the trails.

We had a blast and the owner came up and stopped us and requested songs we had never played, and then asked for some originals.  Green beer, people having fun.
