Just getting this thread on the board. Here's what bimactive.com has to say about Saturday's ride:

Distance: 20.94 miles
Total Uphill: +1312 ft
Difficulty: 4.0

I'll go use this week's total as the goal to beat for the rest of the month.

Im off to a slow starty, but Ive been working every day since I arrived.

BIM says 793 feet, 11.26 miles at avg elevation 7663 feet. Difficulty 4.1. I've been on more difficult rides, I wonder if the difficulty gets down graded as more "high end" rides are posted?

Anyway, here's the profile. There are no public rides for estes park posted in BIM yet, except this one, so if you are in the area, do a search on zip code 80517 for some good rides once I start getting them entered.

TOtal for month 793 ft

That's some climb from miles 3-7! What was your top speed on the descent? I've made it to 42mph...but it took an hour after the ride to unclench my arse from the saddle.

I have one more day of this weeks bike rides - I'll wait until then to total my uphill total. But this is my toughest ride so far this week (and I'd say ever)

BIM gave it a 5 on the difficulty scale - total elevation gain 2034 feet. I felt this one for a couple of days.

This is the ride I did on Monday.  Biking again tomorrow, so I'll report my total distance then.  This ride was 1,299 ft over 18.3 miles.  BIM gave it a difficulty of 5 (I think).  It was a fun ride.

Ok, I've been out of town for a few days. I want to be part of this challenge. Is it too late?
I can't find a thread with proposed goals/rules. Do we have teams? Or is it just individual?

You're welcome to join. We are logging our routes on bimactive.com (requires free registration), which provides elevation, ride difficulty & the pretty graph.

So far, making up the challenge rules as we go along and no teams. I'm open to suggestions.

Just registered, cool website, I am bummed, I didn't know of it earlier. What are our weeks? Mon thru Sun? In that case my total for Week 1 is 0. I've climbed plenty last weekend, about 8,000 feet, just not on my bike - on my 2 feet

My bike commute route to work is over 1,600 ft total climbing

I would like to propose a personal challenge of climbing 20,000 ft in the month of July.

Mon thru Sun is fine; not sure how to account for the 3 extra days in the month. Suggestions?

20K vertical for the month - nice!

Here's the ride for today:

Stats:  28.59 miles

Total uphill:  1118

BIM difficulty - 4.7

Total elevation gain month to date:  4368

Hey...anyone know why this ride logs as 28.59 miles (according to Garmin and stats on BIM site), but when BIM graphs it...it looks like it was more than 30+  What's up with that?

Ok, finally first ride of the month and a pretty flat one:
30 miles and approximately 700 ft of climbing
BIMactive doesn't have the bike trails, which account for 75% of this ride, so I tried to create a route close to the one I rode, it came off 4 miles short the actual distance, so I figured, climbing might also be underestimated and rounded it up to 700ft from 672

If you zoom in and use satellite view, sometime you can see all the trails depending on tree folliage.

BIM Stats:

One-way distance - 15.83 mi.

Total Uphill distance - 2752 ft

Difficulty - 4.3

-----------------

Am quite a newb at hill climbing (biking in general) and felt good that I could complete this route due to the hills involved . But it may pale in comparison to some of the other rides that folks do

BTW , has anyone figured out a better way to trace the route apart from clicking all along the way on the map ? I find that it can be a bit painful and error-prone since some routes have a lot of twists and turns . It would be cool , if you can tell BIM , that I'm on this road (route 9) for eg. and thats the route till I make a turn ... make sense ?

Thanks! I will try it next time I do this ride

This weekend was a big one!
Triple Bypass group ride:
120 miles, 3 Colorado mountain passes, 10,310 ft of climbing.
This is hard enough, but due to pouring rain and unusual cold the whole way, this ride was even tougher than on any other year. Lots of people decided to not continue after the first pass (very smart ) I was pretty close to quitting too, but then I realized that if I bail, I will not meet 2 challenges - this one, and the 400 mile club as well, so thanks, BT for making me stronger!

Data and image are not from BIMactive, but from the official web site of the ride.

11,010/20,000, nearly 9,000 feet to go to meet my goal

THis is one way. Total gain for up was about 2400 feet, plus the 600 feet climb on the return trip makes a total of 3000 feet climbing.

This was from Estes Park to Bear Lake.
