Subject: Al Trautwig, yea or nay?Al gets a lot of flack in both the tour broadcasts and at Ironman Kona. Personally I like the guy, I think he does a creditable job, he's better than he used to be. Consider the fact that over the past number of years we've had to endure: John Tesh: Keyboard player turns tour announcer. And you thought American Idol was a bad deal? Sam Posey: Race car driver / announcer also gives it a shot. Better than Tesh, but I just can never get over his last name. Kirsten Gumm: More picturesque, especially in her sophomore year after the infamous "boob job" but lacked credibility. Now for the current announcers: Craig Hummer: GACKKK!! Lose this guy fast. Tries too hard to put a comical moronic spin on everything he says. Another last name faux pas. Frankie Andreu: Good rider, sorta OK announcer, but his accent makes a Bostonian sound like he can properly say "Park The Car In The Harvard Yard." Fingernails on a chalkboard. There has to be someone better. Davis Phinney? Bobke: Classic, Tour Day France crackpot. A keeper. Paul Sherwen: Only criticism is that he starts every sentence with the final words of Phil Liggett's last sentence. Other than that, he's great. Phil Liggett: A god. Makes mistakes, but they're offset by his knowledge and memories of past races. Nuff said. Edited by max 2006-07-05 9:19 PM
