The Mrs and I are contemplating a move to Arizona and like the housing options in the Goodyear area. Anyone have anything positive or negative to say about the area? Or any other recommendations perhaps? Thanks in advance

I love the West Valley (where Goodyear is located).  Housing prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of dining/shopping/entertainment options, as well as plenty of places to train.  A major consideration when selecting a community is your commute.  If you have to go east, I-10 is a big headache.  Try to locate close to where you expect to work, as traffic here can be brutal.  I live in Surprise (due north of Goodyear) and am very happy here.  You might want to post your question in the AZ forum, where you would likely get some responses from folks who currently live in Goodyear.  Good luck, and happy hunting!

I was stationed at Luke AFB, just down the road in Glendale in the 90s.  The Litchfield Park area is/was a very nice golf course community but their are (used to be?) some really nice apartments/townhomes in the area.

Estrella is pretty nice, too.

Tempe, Chandler, Sun City are all nice places to hang out.

But maaaannnn, it is HOT!

What BHannahs said.  The commute to Phoenix is just going to suck both coming in and going out.  Sure, there's plenty of lanes, but it's worse than it ever was nowadays.  If you work in Phoenix or Scottsdale, you're going to hate it unless you have odd hours.

It's grown out there and is really nice.  They have all the normal stuff, just that you might have to drive 10 or 15 minutes out of the hood to get to it.
