So I haven't done a triathalon yet and am still training. Just got my bike friday (Specialized Allez Elite double) My first triathalon will probably be in August. Here's my question... So you run out of the water after your swim, how do you go from speedo to bike shorts? I'm sure this must be a dumb question. I should probably just go watch one, but I have a feeling I'll leave and regret not actually doing it.

Pull them on over. Or get a pair of tri shorts and you're good for the day.

Hey,

Welcome to BT!

I highly recommend getting a pair of Tri Shorts!!!

1) No “skin” allowed in Transition area
2) You don’t want to wear anything under your cycling shorts
3) You don’t want to ride/run in a wet pair of cycling shorts—Tri shots dry much faster

Where in CT are you located? There is a short sprint in Marlborough on Thurs night. Come on out and give it a watch (better yet, race it-it’s an AWESOME 1st race! Several of us CT BTers has done this as our 1st.)

Link to Thurs night sprint(s)

Cheers,
CJS

Thanks for all the help! I guess tri shorts it is. I live in Meriden. Terramuggus, July 27th in Marlborogh, will be my first. I would love to get out and see this weeks race, unfortunatley my work schedule won't permit it.

Thanks again!

Too bad you can't check one out first--always a good idea.

But, as I say, it's an AWESOME 1st race so don't sweat it.

There's a dude at Terramugus who just does the whole thing in his Speedo hammock. I'm not recommending it, but that option is there.

Yep, when you're slow and you get lapped, you see a lot of stuff. Some good, some not so.

Another question about terramuggus... I went there on Wed. to practice some OWS and the lifegaurds weren't to keen on it. Do you just go before they get there? What is the swimming course like?

How so? They don't typically bother with us.

The course is a triangle. It starts to the right of the roped-off swim area, goes out about 200 yards (use the large boat at the dock past the yellow/orange umbrella on the left side of the lake as you face out as a marker) then turns back to shore and ends on the other side of the roped-off swim area.

I asked them if i could swim outside the ropes, and they looked at each other like they didn't know, so I just said forget it.
I got my tyr tri shorts today! Thanks for the advice. I can't wait to try them out. I did my first brick Sunday and was really happy with the way my body responded. I rode 20 something miles, then jumped off and ran two. It felt like I was drunk running the first tenth of a mile, wobbling all over the place. 10 days to race day. This is addicting.

I asked them if i could swim outside the ropes, and they looked at each other like they didn't know, so I just said forget it. -- Ah... you asked them to think about something. Now I see where the problem was.

Just go to the right of the ropes, swim out to the boat past the yellow/orange umbrealla on the left side of the lake, and sight off the tower. Swim back to shore on the other side of the ropes.

I did my first brick Sunday and was really happy with the way my body responded. I rode 20 something miles, then jumped off and ran two. It felt like I was drunk running the first tenth of a mile, wobbling all over the place. -- Perfect!

10 days to race day. This is addicting. -- Yes it is!

Have fun.

My understanding is that we have an unwritten agreement with the lifeguards. We don't bother them and they don't bother us. During the week, try to go after 6:00 or first thing in the mornings on the weekends. It is a private beach but I guess as long as we are not hanging out with our families or go there during the middle of the day when it is crowded, they are pretty cool about it.

Lake T is a great race and you will have a load of fun. It was my first try last year.

Good job on the brick and yes it is very additive.

I will see you there on the 27th! There is a sad shortage of tris that weekend, so I will be getting in my fix early.

The goal: stay in front of Speedo guy. Eek.

To Whom it May Concern!

As a tax payer in the town I am appauled by the lack of enforcement of trying to keep out undesirables! One of the life guards was a baby sitter for my kids so I am going to give a detailed description of all of you

Nothing like the tri riff raff using town resources!

No, you don't have to move, just flatten out the roads around your house. Oh, and at least put a little sealer on 'em if you can’t pave 'em right.

Cappy,

I am getting pumped to head up north on thursday. Kind of bummed you wont be able to join us at 6 flags! I am gonna call jimmys and see if i can make a reservation. Is it just the 7 of us? I assume the racers will eat early and not be able to join us? What do u think of that idea and what time works for u and the wifey?

Dude, I'm STOKED for this weekend!

I think a reservation is a good idea. As far as I know it's just us--didn't see an "LP BT Gathering" thread so I don't know what others have planned. Jorge is going to be up there and not racing so he may be interested.?.?.?

As far as a time? I know this is vague but not too late. We have to get up on the early side to drive to a parking lot and catch a bus it town. Off the top of my head, 6:00. What time did you have in mind?

Lookin forward to it!

BTW:
Where are you volunteering again? I know your son is king of the cold sponges so I figure it's on the run course somewhere.

The Miller Clan is working the Boat house run aid station from like 1-6 ish longer if it is fun!! The little man gets a little tired and depends on how Amy is feeling but we will be there to support all those warriors out there on the course! Why dont you and Meridith stop by and visit. It is just to the right of the swim start I will give u a free cup of water!

I will call or pm you with the details on Jimmy's.
