This set up is perfect for those wanting to upgrade. Contact me at (734) 218-4474. I will not give my wonderful bike up to anyone until they test it out. This bike isn't for everyone. I WILL NOT SHIP. That means you'd have to come over here to Michigan.

PS. This bike is a 650c and has a very low stand over height of 29", which is perfect for flying mounts and dismounts.

I had one of these, but with the 105 kit and have to admit that even with my carbon bike today, the Trek Hilo is still my favorite (just look at my user name). This is one of the best starting bikes I could recommend to anyone, the only thing to be aware of is the smaller wheel size. Make sure you have at least 2 spare tubes as it is not likely that you'll find someone else with a spare that size (650c).

Thanks for that review. I really hate to part with this bike. It's really really great.

Note: I'm including a few spare tubes with this set. Also, in year and year of riding this bike, including using it to commute 2-days a week for a 20-mile round trip for 4 months, I only got one flat. Weird. This is why I have all these extra spare tubes.

I got this from someone helping me start doing tris... and I hope to pass this on to someone else so that they can improve their game.

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

I'm going to let you in on how to get faster by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing, but you won't have to raise your heart rate, put out 300 watts, or really even break a sweat.

The wheels are my first area of concern and I have started to shop around. I find it nauseating to think of spending the same amount for wheels as my bike. Any help?

We will take a peek into the lowly saddlebag to see what needs to be in there in case of emergency. Much of this may be common sense, some might surprise you, and some are simply just my opinion.

Bike upgrades to gain speed: better wheelsets, a tri-bike, road bike with aerobars, even getting rid of those love handles before getting that lighter bike.

So when it comes to triathlon, the largest investment we make, in both terms, comes in the bike. Looking at ways to get faster, while considering a budget, is a bind for most triathletes.
