Anyone using this that can comment on likes/dislikes? We're considering switching from Time Warner to save a few bucks and also pick up Universal. The ability to use the DVR on both TV's sounds nice as well. Any downsides?

I have had U verse for about 3 weeks now and I like it. I was on DirecTV but I got tired of the cost and it going out when it rained. Things I like about U verse:

wireless DVR- means I can move it anywhere in the house

Watch what I recorded anywhere- I know you can do this with other companies, but I could not with the DirecTV setup I had. So I like watching something downstairs, then heading upstairs to finish it.

As far as what I do not like... I have already had to sync up the downstairs DVR cause it lost the signal for some reason, It only took a few minutes once I figured out what I was suppose to do. And once I learn all the channel numbers, not sure I will have much to complain about.

Overall I like it

Been a customer for 6-7 years.

Pros:
multi-room DVR
Wireless receiver (can move it anywhere as long as the wifi reaches)
recording 3 shows while watching one
Good on-demand selection - PPV and subscription channels
Not a lot of outages/U-verse issues

Cons:
Tech support can suck....especially at night.....when your DVR goes out and you call and are connected to a far away land
Had some hardware issues and lost a DVR full of shows

I've had UVerse for about 3 years.

Pros:
- channels
- DVR will record 3 different shows at a time and I can watch a 4th
- no problems with outages
- combined TV/Internet
- selection of OnDemand programs

Cons:
- price! I started out with a great introductory offer paying $108/month for TV and Internet bundle, I now pay $161/month with no added features. I understand they all have introductory prices, but an almost $60/month hike after a years worth of service is a bit much. I have heard you can call and threaten cancellation and they will give you a better rate, but I personally have not tried.

Introductory email I just received is $49/month (with one year required) with some fine print charges. Standard rate AT&T rep printed out for us was $102. This is the second tier package without HBO. I would call if I were you.

Funny you mention the price thing.  I've had TW forever and I have fast internet but one of the lower TV channel plans (including HD).  I want to switch to U-Verse, but they make it tough by advertising their introductory rates online which look awesome.  However, after doing a ton more research, it seems their lowest TV plan with HD plus a mid-range internet packages will certainly be more than my Time Warner.  I realize they allow more simultaneous DVRing of shows and whole house DVR which are nice upgrades from my TW package, but I am not sure now what I want to do.  Part of me switching to U-Verse is under the assumption I pay as much or less than TW and that doesn't seem possible (from what I can tell).

Call customer service and select the "Cancel" option. You'll talk with someone. Explain your situation and see what they will do. I do this about every 7-8 months and either get the price reduced and/or bump in service.

Also....Goosedog....since I was first to respond....do I get your referral? haha....
