stalking the poll results here

http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2013/results?pw

very hot race this year, and traditionally congressional midterm elections follow the VA and NJ governor races.  so far, our 3rd party candidate is making a decent showing and may even get the 10% needed to let libs get equal funding and participate in debates....

Really close election.  I'm disappointed Sarvis didn't get 10% mostly because I'd love to see a 3rd party be included in the funding and debates

Interesting that backlash from the ACA seemed to have wiped out McAuliffe's double digit lead from a month ago.

So you voted for who you thought would win or who you most aligned with?

Just asking about the 'sacrifice a vote' comment.

i voted for the candidate who had a chance to win against the candidate that i reallllly did not want to win.  honestly, sarvis wasn't THAT impressive of a candidate either but having a 3rd party next time around would be a meaningful change.  they all sucked, but one sucked more than the rest.

I just started paying attention to this the last few days.  I wasn't sure who was "supposed" to win or not but it seemed like the Republicans were trying to turn it into a referendum on the ACA.

The most surprising thing I noticed in the whole process was that VA has to elect a new Governor every year.  That seems a little odd because he/she would likely spend the first month or two just trying to get situated in office.  Oh well.

our governor serves a 4-year term.  however, he cannot serve consecutive terms, which i love because an in-office gov is focused on work and not re-election.

OK, that makes more sense.  Some article I read last night said it was a 1 year term which I thought sounded really whacky.

you weren't purged from the voter rolls?  that's nice to hear.

both candidates seemed really slimy.  so, in the end I guess you vote for the one that shares more of your views, and wince when you pull the lever  (not that there are levers any more)
