Swim
Comments: Not to get off topic of the actual swim, but this was a really nice lake. Fairly clear, great temp, and surrounded by beautiful homes. As far as the actual swim, it went well. Was able to find my own space early and didn't get kicked or hit throughout the event. Great thing about a swim this distance is everyone pretty much spreads out and finds their "natural" area. What would you do differently?: Practice more in open water. I'm still relatively new to this. Transition 1
Comments: Being that this was a longer distance tri, I decided before the race I wouldn't really care about transition times. I was more concerned with making sure I had everything I needed for the next 56 miles. Took in some fluids as well. What would you do differently?: Find a better spot on the rack than what I had. My area was covered with pine straw, which was a pain. Bike
Comments: Took you way out into rural areas that were nice to see. Major road in the 35 - 45 miles range was not all that pleasant. Probably took it too easy saving up for the run. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Transition 2
Comments: Once again, I was in no rush. I figured I had 13.1 miles to make up some time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Weather turned very hot on the run and there wasn't much shade on the course. Pushed it pretty hard and I'm happy with my run time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little bit. Ate a lot. Tried to stay in the shade. Tried to drink a beer but that wasn't going down so well. What limited your ability to perform faster: The nerves going into my first half-iron event. I held back on the swim and run because I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle the entire event. I should have been more confident in all the training I did. I was ready for this event physically. I wouldn't say I wasn't ready mentally, but I need to remember that I can do any challenge thrown my way. Event comments: I was very impressed with this event. I was expecting a small time operation due to the location in Macon, GA (for those of you from Macon, no offense). I was thoroughly impressed with how professional this event turned out to be. I'd like to do it again next year. Last updated: 2006-08-03 12:00 AM

At a granola bar, dranks some fluids, arrived at the race to check in and get marked.
Nothing. I figured I had plenty of time to warmup over the course of a half-iron.
