Subject: RE: Boerne Lake Question Howdy! Boerne Lake is a great place to swim. The Brittons Tri-Force club swims there on Friday afternoons if you want a group to swim with.
If you stick to the half of the lake nearest the dam there's no issue with algae, shallow water, etc. As opposed to the area at the other end of the lake from the dam (dam is to your left if standing on the boat ramp ) which is shallower and has algae.
If you swim straight across the lake from the ramp and back I believe its close to 1600 meters, a little short of a mile. The longer swimmers will swim from the ramp along the shore (take a left from the boat ramp ) around to along the dam and along the far shore, and then back. I think that can get to around 2 miles, plus you're close to shore the whole time if you're by yourself.
Boats are allowed in the lake, but no motor boats (except trolling motors i think ).
If you google Boerne lake water temperature, it'll give you a link to see the water temp.
