Total Time = 1h 22m 50s
Overall Rank = 50/192
Age Group = 23
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:15, 2 pieces of toast with PB. Sipped on gatorade/water mix until 7:30.
Event warmup:

Listen to mp3 player. Take bike for quick check spin.
Swim
  • 16h 37m 80s
  • 750 meters
  • 2h 13m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

First tri, not a strong swimmer. Just took it at my own pace. Was tired by the last 100M. Finished pretty strong in my opinion. Had set a time to be out of the water by 25:00. Was very pleased to be out in under 17:00. Especially for having NO swimming history. Jst hope it wasn't luck!
What would you do differently?:

Keep calm.
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

I think it was nerves, but it took me 2 trys to get clipped into my pedals. Oh well, there's next time.

What would you do differently?:

Shirt got rolled up in back, and I fooled with it for about 20 seconds too long. Next time, I'll just take off and worry about the shirt down the road.
Bike
  • 38h 55m 52s
  • 20 kms
  • 0.51 km/hr
Comments:

Need to practice off the bike path and onto actual roads more for next training segment. I seemed to do oaky, as I wasn't too spent for the run.

What would you do differently?:

Drink more fluids. I had 1 bottle of Gatorade and 1 bottle of water. I only drank maybe 30% of each.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Had a pretty solid T2 IMO. Not sure what really good is though. Started cramping in my calves during the first 500 yards. Had never done that during previous brick trainings. Now I know race pace, I can train more efficiently.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much.
Run
  • 24h 35m 2s
  • 5 kms
  • 4h 55m 01s  min/km
Comments:

First 500 yards, had cramping calves. Kept a steady tempo despite cramps. Need to run during training more often. Took my running history for granted, and shoud have incorporated more bricks.
What would you do differently?:

Higher tempo.
Post race
Warm down:

Light stretching and walking. Lots of water and gatorade. 2 banannas and half of a hamburger.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First time nerves, wasn't sure how far I could push myself. Just wanted to finish my first one.

Event comments:

HFP seems to put on great races based on the 2 I've spectated and the one I've participated in.

Yep, very nicely setup course. Just the right amount of challenges.
