Hi. Have been lurking around this and some other forums for about 5 months. A rapidly approaching 50 newbie who had done some cycling but complete novice runner and no lane swimming for about 28 years!! Took the plunge in January and signed up for a sprint tri in July. Struggled to get 50m in the pool. But taking advice, joined a local club - and not looked back since. Putting some big effort in, but loving the challenge of this sport, and the friendship of the community. Life changing....

A newbie at 50 puts you several years younger than I was when I started a few years ago. Welcome to the sport and BT. It can be very addictive, but hopefully in a good way.

As you have already discovered, this community is very friendly and supportive. Read the posts and ask your questions. When you are ready, join a mentors group. It helped me tremendously.

Let us know how your race goes in July!

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
