Swim
Comments: This was a very good swim. Navigation good since it was in the pool with very clear water. I tried to keep it easy and was starting to feel the effort for the last 3 lengths, but I think I swam faster than planned, so I'll take it. Seeded myself with a 4:15 swim time. Didn't pass anyone and didn't get passed by anyone. I'm guessing with the time to run out of the pool I did this in about 4:00. What would you do differently?: Swim more...I've only logged about 25000 yards this year. Transition 1
Comments: Very methodical transition since this was my first sprint in 3 years. Helmet, sunglasses, race belt all went on smoothly. Shoes were a little balky (no socks). What would you do differently?: Not much. According to the results, I didn't gain or give up much ground in this transition. Bike
Comments: Was very pleased with this. Pushed the effort the entire time. Passed a few people, got passed by some people. Hit the 7 mile mark at around 24 minutes, so brought it home in 19ish when I had the tail wind. Was able to stay aero almost the whole time and rode in the big ring the whole way. What would you do differently?: Ride more...I've only logged about 200 miles so far this year. Transition 2
Comments: Again, tried to be methodical since I haven't raced much. Struggled a bit to get my socks on since I hadn't prepped them before the race. What would you do differently?: Gave up time and positions (AG & overall) in this transition, but wouldn't change much other than prep my socks like I normally do. Run
Comments: Can't really complain about this because I haven't run much this year and I'm packing an extra 20 pounds around. Quickly settled into a pace I felt I could maintain because I wanted to run the whole thing (and I did). A minute before the turn around, I got passed by a young kid (14?) and then a young lady. I told her she could run him down. Got passed about a half mile from the end by a guy in my AG, but knew I wasn't going to be able to hang with him, so I let him go. What would you do differently?: Run more. I'd only run about 55 miles so far this year. I can't say this run was "bad" because it truly reflects my ability right now even if I was a lot faster 3 years ago when I was training a lot. Post race
Warm down: Stretched and drank a bottle of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and an extra 20 pounds. I'm working on both. Event comments: This was a great way to get back into triathlon. Chatted with a couple other athletes from the club who referred to themselves as "has beens" as they have trained the last year like I have... Last updated: 2016-05-26 12:00 AM

Got up at 4AM, fixed some breakfast, drove to the venue. Arrived at 6AM.
Got packet, set up transition, then changed into tri-suit and waited.
None, waded into the water to line up by seed time about 2 minutes before I started.
