Subject: Bullet-proof, Garmin-supported HRM/strap? Does the above exist?
I have the same "pod" (I have no idea what it's real name is ) that snaps onto the Polar strap I upgraded to a long time ago. The "pod" is 6 yrs old, but wasn't used for all that time. I did have a new battery installed, earlier this year.
Problem I have is..........it'll work fine until I'm drenched. Then, it starts reading lower and lower HR. When I finish a long run, it may say my HR is 34 BPM. Oddly enough, it works when I come out of the water, just fine. When I'm drenched in sweat - different story.
I take a damp cloth and wipe down the inside of the strap before I use it, each time. I wash it 2-3X/mo. Has anyone come out with a better system than the one I have? What's the life expectancy on these things? Is this about as good as it gets?
Oddly enough, the time I really wanted the info. from it this year.....it worked great (International dist. tri ). I just don't know when it's going to work and when it's going to freak out. FWIW, I can't remember it ever NOT working on the bike (paired with a 510 ). While running, it's paired with my 920XT. |
