Swim
Comments: Was a chilly swim at 65F water temperature. The silver lining to the cold water was that the air temp was in the low 50s so the water kind of felt warm! The water was also very choppy. I heard a lot of other participants talking about the waves. It was hard to site. You'd look up and get a whole mouth full of water. What would you do differently?: Just keep swimming. I'll get faster! Transition 1
Comments: Was debating with adding an extra layer over my tri suit after the swim and before the bike. Super glad I didn't. Would have taken awhile to get on my wet body and I warmed up fairly quickly. Bike
Comments: Hilly course around the state park. I don't get tons of opportunities to ride a lot of hills around here. Transition 2
Comments: Super fast T2 for me. Run
Comments: This 5k was advertised as "flat". It was anything but flat! Legs were a little toast from the bike but I powered through and negative split the run. Negative splits were definitely aided by the fact that it was more downhill in second half. Post race
Event comments: Fun early season race. With it being early May definitely bring your wetsuit! Last updated: 2017-05-06 12:00 AM
