Subject: T1 question
Hi all,
Curious about something, so please offer opinions.

Does anyone stop and take off wetsuit right after exiting the water? Meaning, before they even get to T1? The reason I ask is that on longer jogs from lake to T1, almost all the water leaves my suit, which also tends to make it harder to get off. I'm aware of all the lubricants, etc. I'm just wondering if anyone does this as a practice. To me, it seems like it would be easier to run also without the wetsuit half on. Of course, the swim time might go up a little, but your T1 would go down too.
Thoughts?
PS of course, respect would need to be given so as not to disrupt other people exiting the lake, as in moving off to the side...

Take it off while you run.  By the time you get to T1 it should be down to your waist.  Stop at your bike, push it down with one motion, step out of each leg.....you can get to the point where you do that as you put your helmet on.  Yes, all of that can be done very easily with practice.  A couple of hints, use a good lubricant on your lower legs, and cut the wetsuit legs up to nearly mid calf.......it'll come right off.

This.

Here's a pretty good video of how to do it:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEsWfUGL99c&index=11&list=FLBDaifbQgu_mCP67izEp5Vw

Two things to consider doing differently than the video, though:  Take off your cap and goggles after unzipping the wetsuit, but before pulling it off your arms.  As you pull off the sleeve, your cap and goggles are in your hand.  Let go of them when the sleeve if halfway off your arm, leaving them inside the sleeve.  That will keep them from getting separated from the rest of your gear in transition, and it's one less thing to do with your hands during transition.  The other thing is to just stand on one leg of the suit and give the other leg a hard yank to get it off your foot instead of reaching down and trying to peal it off with your hand.

Put a wetsuit on like it's the most delicate of Faberge eggs, and rip it off like it's a piece of trash to be discarded.

What they said!

Biggest tips I would say are lube your legs to death all the way up to the knee, and cut the ankles off the suit.  I can have that suit off before my helmet is fully buckled.  Shove it under the bike and then roll out.

One other comment...if wetsuit removal adds more than 10 seconds to 15 seconds maximum to your transition time, you're doing something wrong.
