Comments: Went out fast, but held on okay. Passed a lot of people and no one passed me (though I went back and forth with the two front women and one guy). Last time I did this race, I went around 21 minutes...had a shot at sub-20 this time, but just missed. Still my 6th best 5K all-time on a course that is not fast at all. My sister went sub-10:00/mile pace...big positive for her as she's been working through some knee injuries. What would you do differently?: If I'd realized how close I was to 20 minutes, I might have pushed a touch harder in a couple spots, but I don't really feel like I had 2 seconds/mile left on the course. Last mile may have been my fastest ever for a 5K, actually. Post race
Warm down: A little stretching, some photos with my sister, got on the podium with age group first place. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really...I'm in about the best shape ever...just a tough course for a "fun run." Event comments: Very pleasant and pretty typical Turkey Trot fun run. Benefits a local church. Pretty course in a park with lots of California live oaks. Last updated: 2017-11-21 12:00 AM

Second time doing this with my sister (last was 2014). Got to her house late on Wednesday evening...race site is only 6 miles down the highway, so we headed over at 8:05 for a 9:00 start.
Did a brisk 0.25 miles just below race pace.
