Hi everyone, good to be hear.

I'd love to do a triathon (maybe next year). Currently running a few times a week and running a 10k every month this year for charity.

Looking for advice on finding swimming and bike equipment - been a casual cycler for years but need to get all the right kit!
Hope to learn lots and get started!

Welcome! Don't overthink it and don't worry about the gear yet. Just keep swimming, biking and running and you'll be fine. I did my first sprint on a mountain bike with big knobby tires.

Swimming equipment? Goggles and swim shorts. If you don't know how to swim - invest in lessons. A swim stroke is like a golf swing - better to learn correct technique on the front end then to un-learn bad habits.

Biking: a bike and helmet.

Running: running shoes, shorts and a shirt. - dry wick material - not cotton.

That's it! Don't worry they'll be plenty of items and opportunity to spend your money on down the road... plenty! But don't worry about it now. Just learn to enjoy the training and the sport.

What Frank said....get the basics and hop in.

My first year+ of tri was on a hybrid in swim trunks. Albeit some jammers I got on clearance after all the swim teams bought their matching stuff.

If you want to spend some money, you can usually pick up a race belt for under $5.....if you don't already have one as a runner. You probably do, but if you don't....you'll enjoy your other races without safety pins soooo much more.

Ride whatever ya got as long as it's "legal". If you don't have a bike....
Don't overbuy on your first bike. Or probably even your second bike. It just puts off the "bike of your dreams" even longer.
Point A to point B is all ya need early on.
