Got to the polls at 0630 and was 19th in line. By the time the doors opened at 0700 there were about 100 people in line. I've been voting in this district for nearly 30 years and based on the demographics of the people in line, I think dems are in for a rude awakening.

Gonna have to pick up a six pack and cook some popcorn to watch the returns tonight. Unfortunately I can't stay up to see the final results.

I think the US Constitution says, "...the right to keep and use Radar Detectors shall not be infringed."

2016 was a wake up call for democrats on what happens when you don't show up to vote. People have really short memories and even shorter attention spans, guess we will see if they learned there lesson. I'd bet a good amount of internet points they will take the house.

I voted several weeks ago, voting by mail should be available nationwide, makes it so easy.

In the first house as you drive into my neighborhood there was an historic Republican landslide.  The first election when we did not split the vote. People there are just sick of the constant whining after the 2016 election.

Welp....no blue wave for sure.  Dems sunk a ton of money into Betos, Abram, Gillum, etc.....no dice.  Reps lost the house, as history shows they would, but not horrible (or as much as Obama and Bush did), and gained well in the Senate.

Life goes on.....2020 looks good for President Trump.  Hopefully, Pelosi goes full nut-job, as we all know she will, and seals the deal.

Nice try Dems....good on you for making it interesting!

As usual, voting in IL is useless unless you live in cook county.

You're not alone.....most states with a really big city and lots of rural ground are the same.  Look at the red/blue map for the country.....same issue.

I moved out of Illinois in 2012.  I tell people I've put "Do Not Cross" tape around the entire state other than to visit occasionally.

What will change, what will not change?

Congress - gridlock, nothing will get passed except benign bills

House - Investigations, maybe impeachment but think people will see that as a political stunt since it would get shot down in the Senate

Senate - Continue seating conservatives judges, confirm Trump's cabinets nominees

POTUS - Increase in executive orders, fire Sessions, continued deregulation, continued tariffs and trade deals, continued foreign policy, continued to fight illegal immigration.

Media - Claims of vindication, lamenting and spinning the lack of a 'blue wave'

2020 - Trump will continue to gain support as the economy continues to roar. Will not be opposed in the primary. Too early to predict W/L as it depends on who the left puts up. Right now they are talking Hillary and Creepy Porn Lawyer but I think they will come to their senses.

And so life goes on. The sky did not fall. All's well and back to our brandy.

In Alabama, every republican running won. Only one dem US rep one but he was running unopposed - probably BHM district. Every candidate I voted for won and all of the 4 ballot measures I voted for passed overwhelming. Doug Jones (D) needs to pack his bags, his days are numbered. His down vote on Kavanaugh cost him his 2020 election. Alabama will not forget.

Every Dem who was part of the Kavanaugh debacle was voted out......and in 2 years, when the country looks back on the coming stupidity from Pelosi, Waters, et al, they will vote them out as well.  Fortunately, they aren't smart enough to just shut up.  LOL

I'm always fascinated at how different responses are in different parts of the country. In Colorado, looking down the list of results I see blue blue blue for even the smallest of state and county positions. Our county is usually considered a big swing county in a swing state, so to see that is odd, and has to be a bit of a blue wave in response to the current political climate. We voted out a long time Republican house member, and elected our first openly gay governor. Funding measures didn't do so well though, and a controversial measure to increase setbacks for oil and gas well drilling failed miserably, so it's apparent that the voters here still aren't full left, despite the fact that they aren't voting for Republican candidates.

And in Missouri......from what I know about people from all over our state, the protests/riots in Ferguson and St. Louis City caused the electorate to dump almost every single Democrat.....including our 3 term Senator.  It will be hard for a Democrat to win in this state for a very long time.

We did legalize medical marijuana though, so all is not lost for the libs here.

Newsweek, Politico, Yahoo, CNN, et al have reported on Creepy Porn Lawyer running for POTUS. Occasionally I will see an article somewhere about Hillary may run again.

2 years is long time in political years and much can happen so waay to early to start thinking about 2020.

RE Beto....

A whole lot of shakin' going on:

https://dailycaller.com/2018/11/07/twitter-randos-literally-shaking-...

I get it. I know when you put your heart and soul and all your emotions into something and then it doesn't happen, it is heart breaking. How man times have we seen big tough grown men crying on the sidelines following the loss of a football game?

Trump is saying he wants to work in a bi-partisan way with Congress. I think that is wise. I always thought the secret of Bill Clinton's success was his willingness to work with Newt and the republicans. Obama did not even try to work with republican and subsequently took a shellacking in the mid-terms....a true red wave.

I think Trump's biggest 'problem' is gonna be the hard right conservative in Congress who refuse to compromise. Like those who say absolutely no amnesty and deport 100% of illegals and no compromise on DACA.

Now that the dems control the House here are their plans.

Democratic colleagues have set their sights on:

•White House security clearances (involving Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, national security adviser John Bolton, and others)
•The controversial addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census
•The Trump administration’s Muslim travel ban
•The State Department’s decision to close its cyber office
•The EPA’s use of a political loyalty list
•The possible participation of Cambridge Analytica’s foreign employees in US elections
•The deadly ambush in Niger that left four American soldiers dead
•The use of private email by White House officials
•Trump’s response to the hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico
•The dealings of the Trump Foundation
•Potential conflicts of interest between Kushner’s business actions and his policy advice
•Payments the Trump Organization received from foreign sources
•Russian intervention with state voting systems
•Former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s contacts with foreign officials

I'm just shaking my head. I thought the House was a legislative branch. Maybe they should set their sights on legislation and way to make America better.

Spend 2 years investigating and staging political theater and 'resisting' anything Trump and I predict a Red wave in 2020. It's time to accept the results of the 2016 election and stop trying to overturn it.

No.....President Trump's biggest issue will be liberals who want their way and nothing else......same as it ever was.  Not only do they want their way on any issue, they take it to another level and want their way on EVERY issue.  You can't even give them some of what they want ....it just doesn't work.  I hope he doesn't work with them at all......let them blow themselves up.

The liberal media political washing machine is on spin cycle telling people 'what they need to know' about the election. Some libs in the media apparently didn't get the memo and have already acknowledged there was no "blue wave".

BTW, DOW is up 360. If Wall Street is happy, I am happy too!
