Sup Everyone?

Got a nice 7 miler in this morning, calling it best run of the year again. Nothing fancy, just getting the miles in, but it was super nice out and the book I was listening too was pretty entertaining.

Stupid hot water heater in the house broke last week on Friday. Fixed itself on Monday with a $70 bill from the repair guy, broke itself again yesterday. Hopefully the new igniter will keep it running as we don't need this repair right before heading out on vacation next week.

Morning!

I start the day at 5:00 AM with a 12-mile.  I am on week #2 of my new training plan.  I have switched gears from Sprint Triathlon training to Marathon and 70.3 training in preparation for September/October races.  So...I was running slower today than I have in about 8 months. The slower pace felt a little more natural this week than it did on last week's long run.  It will still take a few weeks to get used to the long runs though.

Have a Great day everyone.

35 minute Z2 run this afternoon in my sauna of a workout room. Had to slow the pace down to keep the HR from shooting up. Gonna need the heat training for Augusta 70.3 in September.

The heat training works.  I did the Boulder 70.3 last years.  That race is in August and I had a feeling it would be warm on the run during that race.

I had short easy recovery runs in my training plan and so I did them on my lunch break.  Garmin connect gave me a "reward" for doing a work out in over 100 deg F. so I know that some of the training runs were in triple digits although I didn't ever bother to actually check or log what the temperature was from any of those workouts.   My key runs were all between 4:45 AM - 7:00 AM  when it was never over about 75 deg F.  My goal of the lunch runs in triple digits was to see how much I had to slow down to stay in the same HR range on the afternoon runs and I trained at in the morning.  It worked.  On race day when it was in the 90's when I go off the bike I knew exactly how hard I could run without the HR spiking. Being able to race correctly in the race day conditions was a huge advantage.
