Extreme Veteran 412 |  Subject: I watched the live Kona feed all night!Did anyone else watch? I had so much fun sitting here staring at the computer for hours. My husband actually got into it ( a little ) with me while I dreamed of doing that someday. Now I have a question, what is the energy lab? Do all Ironman races have one and are they always around mile 19-20 of the marathon? |

Kinda cool that you can see the WHOLE thing instead of just bits here and there. I even did a 38 mile ride in the middle of the bike portion. I first laughed about the energy lab question because its ironic that something called "The Energy Lab" exist right were you could use a little more energy. But.......if you are serious.....The Energy lab is a facility in Hawaii just south of the main airport that is just that, a natural energy lab. The race turns of the main highway onto the road to the energy lab and they use the lab as a turn around point during the race. |

My husband will crack up when I go tell him. It is funny it's called that right where they'd all need a big boost of energy! thanks for filing me in. It is very cool to see the whole thing and not just snippits. I loved it. |

Veteran 296 Edmond, OK | Subject: RE: I watched the live Kona feed all night! I pulled up the feed with about 10 minutes left until the professionals came out of the water. I watched and listened for two hours [while working on my work laptop] then went to run errands. I came back and watched an hour of the bike then left. I monitored the end of the professionals and my mom [who came over for dinner] and Steph and I watched the first 400 or so people finish. It was fantastic to watch especially the exit from the swim. Aside from watching me in a Formula One duathlon, my mom has never watched a race finish and she was amazed and couldn't stop watching it. It's always great to get others interested in the sport. I watched bits and pieces throughout the day and thought, compared to past IM coverages they have done, it was GREAT. I didn't have any of the usual glitches in receiving the live feed, although maybe they occurred when I wasn't watching. I need to find a way to capture the live feed so I can burn to CD someday. |

We watched virtually all the swim, and portions of the bike. Then we ran some errands. We watched the pros come in, then he finally left to go catch a movie with some friends. I had the feeling he didn't really want to leave. |

My toddler was so annoyed with me! I kept the laptop in the kitchen while doing dishes so I wouldn't miss anything, then when she wanted me to read to her I said, "Sure, let me just set the computer right next to us on the couch while you pick out a really short book!" I watched until Dumpster crossed the finish line and by then my eyes were worn out so that was the end of that! VERY INSPIRATIONAL. |

Do all Ironman races have one and are they always around mile 19-20 of the marathon? I watched most of the day to see which pros won. I couldn't believe how good the coverage was on the live feed. The reception was better than my expectations as well. In reference to the energy lab, I always wondered what is was. Actually it is the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (http://www.nelha.org/). I've never been to Kona but I believe it is a landmark along the run route.
