I realize Cervelo is a popular brand on this forum, but Aegis bikes have a couple of smokin' rides that have been widely overlooked.

To learn more, go to the Aegis website

uhhh, sure it's hard to put up all the bike manufactures that put out performance bikes, but I would think that if a bike manufacture has atleast one Ford Ironman win, you would think it would have been on the list.  By the By, I own the Barolo.   Little Tom

How much that ride cost you?

Can everyone list about what their rides cost?  I'm starting my search and it helps to know so I can narrow my list.

around $5000.00 plus, I would like to point out that it prob not the best starter bike.  What if you do your first race and don't like this stuff.  I started out last april for my first race on a $300 steel Lemond (nevada city).  I did 7 races this year.  This bike raced the last two, the last race being a half-ironman.  frames are one thing, but you can really start jacking the price up on components.

I am going to whine a little.

How can a bike company like Javelin who supports OUR sport at a grassroots level get so few votes.  Many of us own free (or $25.00(still cheap) tri suits.  I'm not trying to offend the Cervelo cult but....I've ridden a Cervelo and it is stiff (and fast) but really hurts after about 20 miles.  My Javelin provides a sweet, sweet ride and I can ride it like as long as a regular road bike as far as comfort is concerned.

My point boils down to a little loyality, I guess.  Javelin supports us (Cervelo has not offered me a tri suit or deep, deep discounts on their product).  Why don't we support Javelin more?   Anyone, Anyone, Bueller?

Note:  I do not work for Javelin.  I'm just a fan of their product.

What does best mean anyway?

A couple of you have talked about ride...it has everything to do with ride and fit and what might fit one person might not another. I've ridden a Pinarello SLX steel road bike for 15 years. Same bike same great ride mile after mile.

When I decided to take the plunge into tri I was looking for at least the same ride quality and lasting power as my road bike. Not wanting to be a moron newbie with a $4 K bike, I looked for value.

Despite the cult status, (that I recognize and originally eschewed) the Cervelo Dual provides the best value I can find in these parts all the other comprable bikes were at least 3-5 hundred (Canadian) more and most started with 105 components.

The other thing I like about the Dual, is that it can relatively easily be easily converted back to a road bike if it ever needs to be. That is a lot of value in my world where I have to hold on to a bike for a long time.
