I didnt realize LUNA bars are for women when I tried one and decided to buy a box of them. What makes them female specific, and is it really that bad for me to eat them?

It's a marketing scheme.

The claim is that they're fortified with vitamins and minerals that women are typically deficient in.  Men can have the same deficiencies....so if you enjoy them, go for it.  They do use some organic ingredients and are a bit healthier than some comparable products.

You'll find yourself watching Lifetime, shopping for window dressing, and discussing your feelings more. In my house, I eat the Clif bars, and my husband eats the Luna bars...he likes the "frosting" on them.

About three weeks ago i found myself getting real moody and completely irrational. Sure enough, my wife bought the Luna bars instead of Cliff bars that week.

guys can eat them. i used to work at this store called midwest mountaineering...lots of mountain guys and rock climbers - and they all ate luna bars. they're yummy! the nutrition break down is supposed to be specific to women's bodies, but there is nothing in them that would be bad for men - just the opposite. I eat the Luna's, at least one a day.  I'm hoping I'll grow some breasts, so I can play with them

It's marketing crap. Luna bars are crunchier than Clif Bars, have "frosting" on most, and have slightly fewer calories. I personally have ODed on them after a backpack trip and had to go back to Clif - just thicking about the Peppermint Stick ones makes me a little nauseous.

Clif also makes "Z-bars" for kids. They are wicked cheap (50 cents), and have nearly as many calories as a Luna bar. And they are sooooooo good.
