Subject: RE: IM Loisville training....how goes it?How do you prep for heat and humidity?
Good question, for me in TN, we have the same weather; it will be humid no matter what; if we can get mild temps (around 80 ) it should be a FAST race.
I know this sounds silly but in the summer train with extra cloths if you live in a dry mild climate like Orange County.
Secondly, you better prepare for a nutritional plan that includes lots and lots of endurolytes, salt tablets, etc.
In my IM last year, it was 90 degrees plus, I ate at least 30-40 of them just on the bike and then 4-6 more per hours on the run. Despite the conditions, I never cramped and actually was strong at the finish.
For you first timers; don't forget to experiment for you nutrition, NAIL it and you will have a great IM. Neglect it and I don't care how much you trained, you will feel like death on the IM.
I am getting excited! |
