I just finished my last tri for the season. I plan on a few run races in Jan. and March. Was looking on some info in regards to gearing down and working during the "off season." I know I should be enjoying the good weather, but just looking for something to focus on for the next 4 months.

Check out the Triathlete's Training Bible for some offseason workouts.  Joe Friel does a nice job with suggestions - weights, cross-training, etc., to build strength for the coming season.

I'm in the same position as you Ontherun- tri's done for the season, and no organized duathlons here till Jan or so. It was suggested to me that I look for some 10k races to focus on - seems reasonable, but somewhat anticlimatic after a year of focusing on tri's. I'm curious to hear what others do too.

enjoy the skiing, but keep running. You gain weight in the winter so eat healthy and watch yuor waist size.

My last race is Oct 3, and after than I'll begin earnestly working on my training for next season. I've got some good bike trainer workouts thanks to my BF that I hope will improve my strength and speed on the bike. I'll continue running and doing running races through the winter -- gotta love the weather here! And my swim class will take me through the winter with swim workouts twice a week.

I've got a couple of training plans that I'm looking at re-working that are between 16 and 20 weeks. That gives me some time in Nov and Dec to really focus on building my cardio base, and then I can start training hard in Jan for my 'A' race in April.

I've found some good info and plans on www.competitionzone.com.

Madkat,
judging strictly by your race results, your programs need a hell of lot more than a rework!!! It might be time to hang 'em up if you catch my drift. You are takeing race slots away from potential athletes.
