Subject: Pace Calculation
Hi Everybody!
When you run, swim or ride, you can do series or different kind of exercises, especially on swimming (and running, too). So you stop, during the pauses. You aren't just counting the time when we are moving.
So, the time you write we were swimming or running, it's the time of all the session, including the pauses (where you are "resting"). How can you calculate a pace calculation?, if "it isn't real".
What about a possible option of calculate (or not) the pace?

Just asking

My HRM allows me to stop timing during pauses, and continue when I start again. However, I typically only time my main swimming set, and most of my runs are continuous. On my swimming logs, I'll note my total yardage in the comments box, while the charts will only pick up my pace yardage.

it will not calculate the pace if you don't press 'calc'...at least thats how it should work...so yes, your right...it is only valid if your doing continuous workouts and time trials.

To make it easier on yourself.  Bring a stop watch ready watch for swim workouts.  Stop the clock at rest periods and only enter the actual swim time, not the total time to get the true pace.

Isn't that like cheating?  Actually, I've done that before, but now that I know I can handle most any sprint distance swim, I only time the main sets.  Granted, my charts will be a little low, but I'm still at the point where the main set is to incorporate the proper form, and I'm not concerned about speed.  After all, Kate Allen was 44th out of the water in the Olympics, and took the gold.

For a while, if I didnt press calculate for pace, the log would only show my time and not a pace (for example bike minutes on a trainer), but now it keeps giving a pace of 0 miles per hour for these sessions, even if I dont press "calculate"...suggestions?
