Subject: Wow and question about BT training log/route creator
I've just recently started to use to BT training logs and route creator...what a really cool feature! Thanks to the folks at BT!

I have a question about the route creator. I mapped out a trail run that I do and notice that the mileage in BT was off by about 2 miles from my trail running guide. My guide says about 7 miles and BT tracker says about 4. Any ideas? Operator error?

Thanks!

The distances come from the Google maps function which doesn't take into account vertical changes in distance calculations. That could account for some of the discrepancy, but without knowing the source of the distance in the guide book it's hard to say.

Great. Thanks. I bet the elevation thing is it...this trail has lot of gain/loss.

I will just add that when logging, when you select the route, you can just change the distance you think is more accurate and hit the pace 'calc' to recalculate pace.  That way your workout is still tagged with the route but it uses your over-riding distance input.
