Swim
Comments: Was very aware of not trying to get out too fast, given it was my first race and was very nervous and did not want the nervous energy to tire me out. So, concentrated on swimming smooth and did well for me, passed a few people and got out pool not exhausted. Water was cold but did not effect me except for freezing before actual start. What would you do differently?: Maybe try to pick up pace a little. Transition 1
Comments: I dont know what happened here. I felt fine, I guess I must have passed out or had breakfast or started a fire or something. Did not feel slow just was.Maybe took too much time drying off and putting socks and shoes on. First race so I just think I was not aware of time. What would you do differently?: Need to be more aware of time and just get done with everything quicker. Bike
Comments: I liked the course, last time up the big hill I could really feel the legs burning. So the last half mile or so took it a little easier trying to get legs ready for run. Had an energy gel during last half mile to get ready for run. Was pretty worried about dead legs on run so did not push as hard as should of. With more training could probably go faster. Have only had road bike for 3 weeks still getting used to it. Again for first race was happy. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder, get clipless pedals. Transition 2
Comments: I already had running shoes on so not an issue, could still probably do this a bit faster. Quickly stopped for some water, said Hi to wife and son. What would you do differently?: Pick up pace a touch. Run
Comments: Other than rubber legs for first few hundred yards settled in pretty well. Again very aware of trying to not start too fast with idea in back of mind that I would pick up pace after 15 minutes. With about 3/4 mile to go got a really bad cramp in side plus at that point course was pretty much straight up hill. Pushed as hard as I could given up hill and cramp. Overall pretty happy. What would you do differently?: Not get a cramp, train on more hills. Post race
Warm down: Had a couple of waters and an banana. Hung out for awhile with wife and son. Played with son in the dirt on the baseball field. What limited your ability to perform faster: Don't know. Lack of experience maybe, lack of training. Event comments: Dont have any comparisons but seemed very well run. Had a little trouble figuring out run course a couple of times. Overall, I had fun and would do it again. Last updated: 2007-05-21 12:00 AM

Son woke me up at 2:30, had a tough time sleeping after that, up for good at 5:30 bagel, peanut butter, banana, coffee. Got to race about 6:30, too early but nice to chat with people and try to figure out what was going on as this was my first race ever.
None.
