Expert 739 Flower Mound, TX | Subject: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party N. Texas TDF/Brick Party When: 7am Saturday, July 21st Where: Flower Mound, about 15 minutes north of DFW airport. The whole idea behind this brick/party is to get to know our local BTers a little better while getting in a good brick workout on some scenic country roads. If the lake levels go down, we may be able to do a OWS in Lake Grapevine at Murrell Park. Otherwise, we will use the outdoor pool in our neighborhood. Then, if there is enough interest, we will have 2 cycling groups, each with a ride leader. One going a little longer (30+ mi) and faster (~19 mph) and another one going a little shorter (20-25 mi) and slower (~16-17mph). Both groups would be treated to smooth country roads with little traffic and some scenic views of the Denton county horse farms. You'll also ride by million dollar mansions, multi-million dollar stables, and of course plenty of horses, cattle, llama, and maybe even baby goats! After the ride, you can either jump back in the pool/lake to cool off or join us on a 2-4 mile transition run (on the Northshore trail if it's not flooded). After all the sweating, everyone can towel off (or even take an indoor shower) and then come 2 blocks to our house for a recovery brunch with egg/potato casseroles and fresh fruit. While getting to know everyone a little better, we can check out the first time trial of the 2007 Tour de France (TDF) on my 100" screen! Tentative Agenda 7:00: Meet at Wellington Athletic Center (WAC) or Murrell Park if lake level is down. See map. 7:15: In the water for 30 minute swim 7:45: T1 = Out of water and onto bikes 8:00: On the road 9:45: T2 = Off the bikes and onto run 10:30: Done w/ run and onto couch to eat and watch the Tivo'd TDF 12:00: Home to family or stay as long as you want If you can come, please let me know the following:

Champion 5575 Butler | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party I am going to try and make it, I just need to get it cleared. If I come I will probably swim/bike. I need to ride for about 3 hrs or so next saturday so I will probably do the loop you show us and then just do it over again. If I get done I might stop by your house after depending on when everyone is done running etc. and how much time I am allowed to be gone. I might be able to get a kayak for the water if we can find someone to paddle? I have a friend who has a big inflatable kayak they got at walmart they said I could use whenever I want. |

Texas TDF/Brick Party So did you schedule this on the 21st because you knew TJ, Sebastian, and I would all be gone running in the 15k at White Rock that morning??? I might try to sneak over there to watch TDF on the big screen. I could probably make it in time for the run, but I figure I'll have had enough running by then. |

Sounds great, Ken. Kayak support would be good, but let's wait to see what the lake level looks like. I think Murrell Park is officially closed, but I'm going to try to find a way to "swim-able" water early next week. I'll post what I find. |

Actually, I was trying to pick a good weekend for everyone. We just had Disco, and Ironhead is this weekend. I didn't know about the 15K, sorry! Depending on interest, we could try to do something similar on the Sat, July 28th b/c that's actually another TT and the last day before Paris, and thus should be the deciding day. Stay tuned!

Champion 5575 Butler | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party dgillen - 2007-07-11 3:12 PM We swam over by the gaylord texas a few weeks ago with fit2train. If you look at my routes you will see exactly where we were. At that time the boat ramps were closed so there were no boats in the water and the water was very calm. I think I will be able to make it. I asked my wife and she gave me the "do what ever you want, I will go shopping". I need to talk to her tonite and make sure it wasn't a do it an pay. As far as the kayak let keep me updated on the water levels and I will see if I can get it. We will just need to find someone to paddle.kproudfoot - 2007-07-11 3:03 PM I am going to try and make it, I just need to get it cleared. If I come I will probably swim/bike. Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party David and Sarah.... this is a very generous and kind offer! It sounds fun, although I would need to do a 60 mile bike ride. So, I'd probably miss all the food and goodies. I do need to be done by noon though so it would work out perfectly. Anyone else up for a 60 miler? |

OK, now here's the real question... would you be cool with keeping a 17 mph average for the last 30 miles? Yea, Jonny has to move that day and I need to be available to let the cleaners into his house. They might show up between Noon and 5, or something like that. |

Champion 5575 Butler | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party KSH - 2007-07-11 4:18 PM I am cool with whatever. I rode 60 last week end and average 17.95mph but that was on extremely flat ground (campion trail) and I was only able to use a 5 mile loop (2.5 one way, 2.5 back) for 12 loops (boring). This might be a slightly more challenging course so I might be forced to go that slow anyways. I will know for sure next week if I will be able to make it or not.kproudfoot - 2007-07-11 4:15 PM OH! WRL would have been less boring. You would have only had to do 6 loops. |

Expert 739 Flower Mound, TX | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party First of all, Sarah and I are very glad there appears to be some interest in this get-together. We're excited about the chance to get to know some of you better. We're sorry we can't accommodate everyone (i.e, the silly 15K runners! :) ), but that's how it goes I guess. Secondly, I ran out to Murrell Park this morning and it is still closed due to very high water that doesn't look like it is going anywhere soon. It is not really feasible to swim there now, sorry. So, I think we'll skip the swim since you guys swim in a pool all the time and our local pool is really nothing special. This will allow us to modify the agenda to accommodate Ken, Karen, and anyone else wanting to ride long: Saturday, July 21st: 6:45: Those wanting to ride long (~60 miles), meet at the WAC For the main ride at 9am, we can still have 2 groups if we have people wanting to ride at different speeds. My wife has agreed to lead a slower group (even though she's not slow) and she knows the area well. For those of you who can only make the lunch/TDF party, we'll be sure to be back at our house by noon, so you can just meet us there at that time. Our address: PM me! How does the new agenda sound to everyone?
