Subject: Sprints and an Oly next year, which plan do I follow???
So, I did two sprint races this year (my first ones ever) and next year I want to do the sprints and try an Oly. I didn't really follow a plan to train for the sprints and definately could use some inprovements, especially the bike (other than ditching the mtb). But I KNOW I need the help for the Oly, would actually be concerned about not finishing. I have asthma and that seems to be my kicker every time.

So, do I follow an Oly plan and it will naturally help better me in the sprint, or do I follow the sprint, just get better at that, struggle through the Oly and focus Oly training for the following year?

All input greatly appreciated!

Definitely use an Olympic plan.  The increased volume will help with your Sprint times and Sprint plans just aren't enough to get you in your best shape to race an Olympic.

I learned this the hard way. I did 2 sprints my first year and tried using a Sprint plan to get through my first Oly the next. It was a sufferfest. Not fun at all. Then later that season I did an Oly and trained using an Olympic plan. I had a great race. It was a very stark difference.

Thansk Mike! That's what I figured but I wasn't positive, good to have confirmation from someone who's "been there, done that wrong"
